Founded by Peter Klekamp in 2001, PLK Communities (formerly Domain Equity) originated as a real estate management company with a focus on multi-family and industrial properties. Through the years, the company expanded into ownership and management of retail, office, and self storage facilities. Today, the main focus is acquisition, redevelopment, and proactive management of multi-family properties with the goal of providing service, innovation, and value. PLK Communities, LLC has over 125 full time associates and manages approximately 4,800 apartment units located in Ohio, Indiana and Northern Kentucky.

PLK Growth Timeline

  • PLK Birthday—Domain Equity formed October 9, 2001
  • PLK owns 1,000 apartment units in 2005 
  • Moved to Creek Road office March 2006 
  • PLK has 50 full time associates in 2007 
  • 2,000 units owned in 2007 
  • Name changed to PLK Communities, LLC March 30, 2010 
  • 3,000 units owned in 2010
  • 4,000 units owned in 2013 
  • 5,000 units owned in 2014 
  • PLK has 100 full time associates in 2014 
  • Corporate office moved to Kenwood Tower September 25, 2015
  • PLK has 125 full time associates in 2016
  • Broke ground on Echelon Fourth Quarter 2016

Community Involvement

PLK Communities was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the City of West Chester for "tremendous efforts in creating a sustainable community, improving the quality of life for your residents, and contributing to the value of the surrounding neighborhood."

Lakeside Landing Apartment Homes has been selected for the 2014 Best of Lakeside Park Awards for Apartment Rental Agency.

Here at PLK we are committed to giving back to our local communities. We close down business operations for an entire day twice a year (approx. cost $40,000) so that the entire PLK team can volunteer together in support of our partner organizations.
