Chief Capital Improvement Officer
Matt joined PLK in May 2011 as Chief Financial Officer and transitioned to Chief Operating Officer in June 2016. In these roles he played a key part in the substantial growth of the company’s real estate portfolio through the strategic and aggressive acquisition and rehabilitation of multi-family properties. Now as Chief Development & Asset Management Officer, Matt is responsible to manage the strategic development, rehabilitation and capital improvement initiatives of the company, which include continuing exponential portfolio growth through development of new assets. His extensive real estate and commercial lending experience includes acquisition, finance, accounting, commercial property management and oversight of PLK’s Property & Casualty insurance program.
Prior to joining PLK Communities, Matt had a lengthy and successful career with Huntington National Bank where he was a leader in the commercial lending group, serving as Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Area Risk Manager for the Cincinnati and Indianapolis markets. Prior to that, he spent 3 years at Safeco Insurance Company underwriting surety bonds on large scale construction projects throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Matt is a 1995 graduate of Bowling Green State University located in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he earned a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology. He is active in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Apartment Association. Matt is an avid basketball enthusiast and has been coaching in the catholic grade school league in Northern Kentucky for many years. Matt resides in Northern Kentucky with his wife and two children.
